[Winchell 1956]  Lactiflora: Dramatic anemone-style flowers with cherry red guard petals surrounding a central ball of ivory-white staminodes. Flowers are held above attractive, dark green foliage on strong, sturdy stems. Side-buds extend the bloom season. Very fragrant. Awarded the APS Gold Medal and an Award of Landscape Merit selection. Worthy of our highest recommendation.  Blooms late midseason to late.
