[Saunders 1942]  Herbaceous Hybrid: Semi-double hybrid with shining, intensely red, broad, cupped petals surrounding a small center of yellow anthers. You won’t find richer color saturation in any other peony. Foliage reaches medium height with very erect stems clothed in dark green leaflets. Terrific stem strength makes this an outstanding garden plant. Blooms early.
