[Auten 1952]  Herbaceous Hybrid: One of the earliest of all peonies to bloom, this sassy little cultivar produces an abundance of small, dark red single flowers accented with bright gold centers. Cut-leaf foliage makes this an attractive garden plant even after the flowers have gone. Awarded the APS Gold Medal and an Award of Landscape Merit selection. Blooms very early.
