[Bockstoce 1942]  Herbaceous Hybrid: Vibrant, fully double flowers wrapped in tightly cupped guard petals that hold for a long time before opening into large, showy bomb-style flowers. This rare peony is one of the few that is known for true red flowers without any burgundy or magenta overtones.  Richly perfumed, robust plants have strong, sturdy stems. Exceptional in every way and one of our personal favorites. Blooms early.
