[Krekler 1958]  Lactiflora: This spectacular  Japanese-style peony has dark burgundy red guard petals surrounding a ball of matching staminodes that are edged and tipped in gold. Handsome plants easily carry the flowers above the foliage on stout stems that don’t require staking. A choice variety for the Columbia River Gorge where it stands up well against wind and rain. Blooms late midseason.
