[Species]  A beautiful and easily grown species from an area spanning northern Russia and Mongolia, stretching south to the Tengri Mountains in Central Asia. Seldom seen in cultivation, the dark, rose-red flowers are single with a center of old-gold anthers and a delightful fragrance reminiscent of lily-of-the-valley. Attractive cut-leaf foliage is deeply divided into narrow leaflets and persists through summer before turning yellow-orange at the end of the season. Requires a sunny location with excellent drainage. Blooms very early.
